Real-Time Golf Ball Trajectory Rendering System Utilizing Specialized Cameras

Overview of the Technology

Leveraging our in-house technological expertise, Nippon TV has developed a new system that addresses the limitations of conventional systems, which compromise precision for cost. This innovative system uses specialized cameras to render golf ball trajectories with high precision in real time, while remaining cost-effective to operate.

In addition to being cost-effective, this system offers the following advantages in terms of usability and performance:

  1. Easy Installation
Minimal equipment setup—simply mount a small, specialized camera onto a broadcast camera.
  2. High Recognition Accuracy
Delivers precise trajectory rendering, unaffected by weather conditions.
  3. Low Latency
Suitable for use in live broadcasts.

This system has already been implemented in terrestrial live golf broadcasts and live streaming, contributing to improved content quality.

Use Cases

This technology is not only used internally at Nippon TV, but also in golf broadcasts by affiliated stations and external partners.

As a result, it enables more advanced trajectory rendering across various broadcast scenarios, expanding creative possibilities and contributing to the advancement of television production technology.

Moving forward, we at Nippon TV will continue to pursue further technological development by building on the technology recognized through this award.

We remain committed to the challenge of delivering new viewing experiences—not only to support the growth of Japan’s broadcasting industry, but also to reach audiences around the world.
